About the Artist

Shane Gausepohl is an artist who loves to create and express himself through a variety of mediums. He began sculpting with polymer clay during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a form of therapy, and soon after began taking art classes at a local community college. His passion for art has led him to become a Graphic Design Student, and he loves to explore new ways of expressing himself through his art. Shane has always had a deep love for artistic things, and he hopes to continue to share his creations with the world.

Artists Statement: When I make art, I focus on adding details to figurative sculptures that give each piece a strong sense of place and personality. My work is not always realistic, but the level of detail and craftsmanship creates a consistent look and feeling throughout everything I make. Whether I am creating simple sculptures inspired by characters from my youth or more realistic pieces, I approach each work with the goal of making it feel whole and complete.

My journey into polymer clay sculpting grew out of a long-standing interest in the medium. During a difficult period in my life, I finally found the motivation to begin working with it seriously. Since then, I have shared my art with others, and people often notice the small details that make each piece feel unique and personal.

Mental health is one of the central themes I explore in my work. My own experiences have become a major driving force behind what I create. I believe that maintaining mental well-being is one of the most important parts of life, and in many ways my art reflects that belief.
